Diocesan Executives Meet in Florida

North Palm Beach, Fla. -- Ninety executives from 44 of the Episcopal Church's 95 dioceses attended a four-day conference here, April 14-18, the largest registration in the history of the annual gatherings.

Meeting at Our Lady of Florida Retreat Center here, the clerical and lay members of the Conference of Diocesan Executives (CODE) heard Bishop Thomas A. Fraser of North Carolina reflect on the topic, "The Diocesan Executive in the Future."

Four seminars were presented. The Rev. Robert Cooper, Nashotah House, Nashotah, Wis., led a group on "A Theological Approach to Stewardship." A seminar on "The Creative Executive" was led by David Campbell, vice president of the Center for Creative Leadership, Greensboro, N. C. The Rev. Jack Anderson of Roslyn Conference Center spoke on "Professional Development," and the Rev. Robert Greene, executive director of the Resource Center for Small Churches, Luling, Tex., led a seminar on "Alternative Forms of Ministry. "

The Rt. Rev. Calvin O. Schofield, Bishop of Southeast Florida, was the celebrant at the opening service.

CODE is composed of clerical and lay members of diocesan bishops' staffs. Many of the executives were accompanied by their spouses to the conference.

There were also representatives from the Anglican Church of Canada. In 1981, the conference will be held at the Vallombrosa Center, Menlo Park, Calif., the first week of May.

The steering committee for this year will be composed of the Ven. Robert N. Davis, North Carolina, chairman; the Rev. Canon Harry Christopher, Colorado, vice chairman; the Ven. William C. Logan, Michigan, programmer; Walter Berberian, Central New York, treasurer; Mrs. Alice Treat, secretary; and the Rev. Canon John Coble, Bethlehem, coordinator.
