Regional Accounting Workshops Designed
Episcopal News Service. May 8, 1980 [80163]
New York -- A series of nine regional workshops on the Episcopal Church's new accounting manual will be conducted in 1980.
The workshops are designed to introduce to diocesan treasurers and administrators the new "Manual of Accounting Principles and Reporting Practices for Episcopal Dioceses, Parishes and Missions." The book was approved by the General Convention last fall, as recommended by the Executive Council. The manual, which went into effect last January 1, is to be fully implemented throughout the Church by January 1, 1985.
John D. Carrico, CPA, of John Deviny Carrico and Associates, P.A., the Council's retained auditing firm, will conduct the workshops, assisted by Robert E. Brown, Controller at the Episcopal Church Center.
Each of the workshops will provide technical assistance to diocesan staff, who, in turn, are responsible for conducting workshops for treasurers in parishes and missions in advance of the January 1, 1985 deadline. Although the 1980 workshops are designed for diocesan treasurers and administrators, other diocesan staff may attend as appropriate.
The workshops will begin in each instance at 1:00 p.m. on the first day and conclude the following day after lunch. There is no registration fee, but dioceses will bear the cost of room and meals for the participants. Each workshop will be limited to about 25 persons; at least 10 persons must register in each regional workshop.
The following workshops have been scheduled: May 19-20, Leamington Hotel, Minneapolis; May 21-22, Sheraton Hotel, Downtown, St. Louis; May 23-24, Ramada Inn, Airport, Atlanta; May 29-30, Holiday Inn, Center City, Philadelphia; June 9-10, Ramada Inn, Logan Airport, Boston; June 11-12, Thornfield Conference Center, Cazenovia, N. Y.; Sept. 29-30, Merina Hotel, Airport, Dallas; Oct. 1-2, Franciscan Renewal Center, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Oct. 3-4, Hilton Inn Downtown, Salt Lake City.
