SEWANEE, Tenn.

The University of the South has been named the recipient of a $750,000 William R. Kenan Professorship and has chosen one of its faculty members, Dr. Harry C. Yeatman, to become the first Kenan Professor at Sewanee, according to Robert M. Ayres, vice chancellor and president of the Episcopal Church university. Dr. Yeatman has taught biology at the school for 30 years and is a world authority on copepods, near-microscopic relatives of lobsters and shrimp. He is a native of Ashwood, Tenn., and is a descendent of one of the founders of the University of the South. Mr. Kenan left most of his $100 million estate to endow the Kenan Trust for the advancement of education.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded grants for the construction of two church-sponsored rental apartment buildings in the St. Petersburg area of the Episcopal Diocese of Southwest Florida. Peterborough, sponsored by the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, with 150 apartments, is expected to be completed in 1981 in the downtown area here. St. Giles Manor, sponsored by St. Giles Church and St. Petersburg Episcopal Community, Inc., will contain 106 apartments and the anticipated completion date is December 1981.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.

The Episcopal Divinity School here has announced the receipt of a gift which is expected to total more than $500,000. The income from this anonymous gift is to be used to encourage the school "to maintain its leadership role" as a teaching institution. George H. Kidder, president, has announced that the first payment has been received and subsequent payments will follow in the next two to three years.

GAMBIER, Ohio

Kenyon College is offering a special scholarship program for students who are contemplating study for ministry in the Episcopal Church and for Kenyon graduates. The funds are made possible by a bequest from the estate of Francis Boardman. The scholarships will be available for students entering college in 1981 and they are designed so that the students may, after graduation, continue to study at Bexley Seminary with additional financial support. NEW YORK

Harold R. Van't Hof has been named vice president of the Seabury Press with responsibilities for special markets. Van't Hof, a longtime Episcopalian, comes to Seabury with experience in marketing posts at the American Bible Society, Eerdmans Publishing Company and the Johnson Reprint Corporation. While living in Grand Rapids, Mich., he was active in diocesan and parish work. Now a resident of Bronxville, N. Y., he is a member of Christ Church there.
