EAST LANSING, Mich. (DPS Jan 14) -- The Rev. Roberto Milano has been named as the editor of the Spanish hymnal which General Convention asked the Standing Commission on Church Music to produce.

Milano currently lectures in both religion and music at Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico and teaches liturgics in the Estudio program, which prepares candidates for ordination. He is also composer in residence at Institudo de Musica Sagrada de Puerto Rico, and serves on the diocesan liturgical commission, with special responsibility for liturgical music.

Milano is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music in composition and holds the Master of Arts degree in musicology from The College of the City of New York. Prior to his ordination in 1981, he was an active organist, choral conductor, and college teacher in New York. His pastoral experience since ordination includes work in rural mission in the mountains, work in a suburban parish, and assisting at Catedral Episcopal San Juan Bautista in Santurce, Puerto Rico.

Working with Milano will be an editorial committee which will be broadly representative of the diverse Hispanic community in the Episcopal Church. He will begin his duties this month.
