Ministries Conference Scheduled For Spring

Episcopal News Service. November 22, 1988 [88258E]

NEW YORK (DPS, Nov. 23) -- "Scouting the Frontiers of Ministry" is the theme of a ministries fair sponsored by Province III and scheduled for April 13-15, 1989, at Shrine Mont Conference Center, Orkney Springs, Virginia.

The fair is designed to support and encourage new ministries and to consider new ways of doing established ministries. A mix of workshops will be offered, as well as a sharing of models and resources, theological reflection, individual interaction -- and fun. Workshop topics will include hunger, aging, homelessness and housing, racism, addiction, ministry to young adults, economic justice, AIDS, sexism, medical ethics, the integrity of creation, sharing the power and clarifying the roles of clergy and laity, and issues of sexual orientation in the Church.

The gathering will be open to all, but diocesan and parish ministry teams are particularly encouraged to attend. The conference will feature displays by both individuals in ministry and by ministry networks. There will be an opportunity for participants from each diocese participating to meet together to discuss what they have learned and the implication of the knowledge they have gained for their ministries at home.

Conference brochures will be available by mid-December. For additional information, contact Sandy Elledge, P.O. Box 1007, Blacksburg, Virginia 24063. Tel. (703)552-3795.
