Coggi Ordained to Priesthood

NEW YORK (DPS, Dec. 15) -- On December 7, the Rev. Lynne M. Coggi, well-known to many people in the Church for her ministry to persons living with AIDS and their families, was ordained to the priesthood at a moving ceremony in the Chapel of Christ the Lord at the Episcopal Church Center in New York. The Presiding Bishop was joined by other clergy who have supported and worked with Coggi in her ministry, for the central act of laying on of hands.

Coggi, who was ordained to the diaconate in 1985, has served as In-House AIDS Consultant to the Office of Social Welfare at the Episcopal Church Center and has been a member of the Diocese of New York's Task Force on AIDS. She has addressed a number of diocesan and national gatherings on AIDS-related issues. She is clergy associate at St. Mary's, Manhattanville, in New York City.
