The Most Rev. Edmond L. Browning, presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church, was one of the 75 recipients of awards presented by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) honoring outstanding contributions in the fight against the AIDS epidemic. Bishop Douglas Theuner of New Hampshire accepted the award on Browning's behalf at a December 2 ceremony in Washington. "This epidemic is indeed a challenge that we must share, and today's award winners are leaders in a national crusade against this disease," said HHS Secretary Louis W. Sullivan, in presenting the awards as part of the government-wide observance of National AIDS Awareness Day, December 1.

The Rev. Dr. Herbert Arrunategui was the recipient of the second annual Galvez Cup, presented by the New Orleans Hispanic Heritage Foundation, Inc., in recognition of assistance to the foundation. Arrunategui was cited forhis contributions in organizing the 1989 retreat that led to the foundation's establishment, and for his continuing spiritual guidance to the group. The retreat was sponsored by the Episcopal Church's National Hispanic Office.

The Rev. Linda Grenz has been appointed staff officer for adult education and leadership at the Episcopal Church Center in New York. As a member of the Education, Evangelism, and Ministry Development Unit, she will coordinate efforts to provide resources and programs in partnership with diocesan leaders in education and ministry. Grenz, formerly an associate in the Episcopal Church's Overseas Development Office (ODO), is a graduate of Westmar College, and Harvard Divinity and Episcopal Divinity Schools.
