East Tennessee Plans National Symposium on Structure
Episcopal News Service. December 3, 1992 [92246C]
As the result of a proposal at the diocesan convention in East Tennessee for a new structure for the executive branch of the Episcopal Church, the diocese is laying plans for a national symposium on church structure. Scheduled for next June in St. Louis, the symposium will bring together theologians, historians and experts in management and institutional development to discuss the structure and mission of the church in preparation for the 21st century. The Rev. Jon Shuler heads the diocesan committee to implement the resolution. He recently shared the idea for the symposium with the Standing Commission on the Structure of the Church, and the commission voted to commend the diocese for its initiative.
