In the April 15 story (93067) about the Diocese of Long Island, it was the Cathedral Corporation and not the diocese itself that voluntarily filed for bankruptcy. Bishop Orris Walker, Jr., emphasized that "the Cathedral Corporation most emphatically will continue with its religious and charitable work in the Diocese of Long Island. Our decision to seek court protection affords us time to work out our financial obligations and to complete our restructuring strategy in order to return the Cathedral Corporation ultimately to financial wholeness." The Cathedral Corporation, an affiliate of the diocese, was incorporated in 1877. It maintains and manages the cathedral and diocesan properties, including its offices and its schools.
