Diocese of Los Angeles Organizes Firestorm Relief
Episcopal News Service. November 23, 1993 [93211D]
At least 17 Episcopal Church families lost their homes to the recent firestorms in California, and the six-county Diocese of Los Angeles is assisting in relief efforts. Bishop Frederick Borsch remained in close contact with clergy and parishioners in areas of impact and Suffragan Bishop Chester Talton visited some of the affected parishes. Michael Bamberger, a rector of Ascension Church in Altadena and a longtime volunteer firefighter, helped battle the blaze in his foothill community. Relief efforts will be assisted by the diocesan fire disaster emergency relief fund, established on October 28. Gifts to the fund may be sent to Diocesan House, P.O. Box 2164, Los Angeles, CA 90051, with checks made payable to the Bishop's Discretionary Fund.
