(ENS) Calling the response to the bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City "overwhelming," Bishop Robert M. Moody of the Diocese of Oklahoma expressed public thanks to all who offered support to the bombing victims and their families. "So many people have written letters and sent contributions," he said. "So many have called and faxed the diocesan office to ask about the well being of the cathedral and her people." The high number of checks sent to the diocese will be used "as those who contributed it intended," he pledged. "Immediate grants have been given to those in need," he said, while additional contributions will be made to those groups and funds that are serving the greater community. "We have seen the worst in human nature," he said. "We have also seen the best. Your response to a city in need is a piece of the same fabric as the courage and character shown by the men and women who came to the rescue and recovery of those whose lives have been forever altered by the senseless bombing."
