Episcopal Children's Advocacy Conference to Honor Edelman

(ENS) In conjunction with the annual conference of the Children's Defense Fund (CDF) in Los Angeles, March 25-29, the Diocese of Los Angeles is hosting a two-day gathering designed especially for Episcopalians, "Our Church's Voice for Children." During the Episcopal gathering on March 24-25, CDF founder and president Marian Wright Edelman will be installed as an honorary canon of the Cathedral Center of St. Paul by Bishop Frederick Borsch of Los Angeles. Other events include a keynote address by Canon George Regas, president of Pasadena's Coalition for a Non-Violent City. The conference will underscore ways the church can better protect and nurture children and foster societal change. An "Advocacy in Action" tour which will take conferees to several Los Angeles-area sites providing after-school care and other services to children.
