Guilbert is Secretary

The succession of the Rev. Canon Charles M. Guilbert to the position of secretary of the House of Deputies has been announced by Presiding Bishop Lichtenberger and Clifford P. Morehouse, president of the House of Deputies.

Canon Guilbert, who is secretary of the National Council of the Episcopal Church and has been first assistant secretary of the House of Deputies, succeeds the Rev. Samuel N. Baxter, rector of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Austin, Texas. Mr. Baxter's resignation became effective on October 15.

Canon I of the Episcopal Church provides that, in the event of a vacancy in the office of secretary of the House of Deputies during recess of the General Convention, the president of the House of Deputies shall appoint a secretary pro tempore to serve until the General Convention convenes (in 1964) and elects a secretary.
