Lord Fisher Visits

Diocesan Press Service. November 1, 1962 [IV-9]

The world-famous prelate who crowned England's Queen Elizabeth II, the Most Rev. Geoffrey Fisher, retired Archbishop of Canterbury, and now Lord Fisher of Lambeth, delivered the annual McMath Lectures at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, Detroit, in late October. Speaking on "The Church is the Church," Lord Fisher touched the four traditional characteristics of the Church: "Apostolic-Catholic-Holy-One."

Lord Fisher's visit to the Diocese of Michigan was also marked by his participation in the laying of the cornerstone of Detroit's new $125,000 Church of the Resurrection.

Lord Fisher also visited Honolulu, California and New York on his recent trip.
