Training Conferences Set
Diocesan Press Service. December 10, 1962 [V-5]
These opportunities for camp leader training are offered through the Committee on Camps and Conferences of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the U.S.A.
Area Training Camps
Planned primarily to train those who will have responsibility for training other camp leaders, these camps provide a full week of exploration, cooking out, camp crafts and skills, and the opportunities for positions of responsibility in relation to the whole camp community. Experiences will be weighed and interpreted in terms of Christian values through discussion, study, and worship.
National Training Camps
Focused on leadership, these camps are designed for directors and camp managers who have attended area camps or their equivalent. They offer the chance for men and women to discover the place of camping in the program of Christian teaching within the Church.
Further information on both kinds of conferences is available from the Unit of Camps and Conferences, Department of Christian Education, 28 Havemeyer Place, Greenwich, Connecticut.
Carbondale, Illinois
Another training session of great value to camp directors and managers is to be held at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale January 21 - 25, 1963. This will be devoted to camp management and camp site development. Information for registration should be secured from Dr. L. B. Sharp, 800 South Illinois Avenue, Carbondale, Ill.
