Medicines Sent to Haiti
Diocesan Press Service. January 10, 1963 [VI-6]
New York - An epidemic of typhoid, affecting 200 victims, was halted with the aid of a shipment of life-saving antibiotics to Haiti in December. Sent under the auspices of Church World Service, world relief arm of the National Council of Churches, the shipment consisted of 25,000 capsules of chloromycetin valued at $4,375 -- 16, 000 capsules contributed by the member Churches of CWS and the balance of 10, 000 donated by Parke Davis and Company, which also paid the air freight.
The Episcopal Church, through the Presiding Bishop's Fund for World Relief, is a participating member of Church World Service.
