New Paper Begun

Diocesan Press Service. February 8, 1963 [VII-5]

Compass, a new venture in church Journalism, appeared Feb. 1.

The four-page tabloid monthly newspaper, subtitled "An Anglican Journal of Mission," is dedicated to making the worldwide mission of the Church a reality to the man in the pew.

Because of its independence of any official agency and because of its roster of regular and occasional correspondents throughout the world, Compassbelieves it can offer its readers each month a clear, up-to-date and unsentimental view of how (and how well) the contemporary church is carrying out its mandate to go forth into all the world.

Compass is sponsored by the Overseas Mission Society, a private association of Episcopal clergymen and laymen, in the hope the publication will contribute to the accomplishing of the task the Society has set for itself: awakening in the Church at large an understanding of the urgency of our missionary responsibility.
