Diocesan Press Service. October 10, 1963 [XIV-11]
When several thousand churchmen invade Philadelphia in early December for the General Assembly of the National Council of Churches, the Episcopal Church will be well represented. There will be 36 official delegates along with a number of Episcopalians who are on the Council staff and members of the Episcopal National Council who have been invited.
This Sixth Assembly opens Dec. 1 and closes Dec. 7. Special Episcopal events planned are a briefing for delegates and Episcopal staff members following the opening service Dec. 1; a corporate communion and breakfast at Holy Trinity Church with Bishop Armstrong of Pennsylvania celebrating Dec. 3; and a dinner for delegates sponsored by the Diocese of Pennsylvania Dec. 5.
Program theme for the Assembly is "Servants of the Eternal Christ. " Four areas for discussion during the Assembly will be race, peace with justice and freedom, technology and livelihood, and faith and order.
