FORMER MISSIONARY TO BRAZIL DIES
The Rev. Charles H. C. Sergel died recently in Cambridge, England at the age of 90. Ordained in Brazil in 1903, Mr. Sergel served as an appointed missionary for over 42 years. Mr. Sergel went to Brazil in the 1890's as a bank clerk, where he became interested in the church.
His pioneer work will be remembered by the emphasis placed on the power of prayer, the joy of stewardship and the glory of music in church services. Upon his retirement in 1945, Mr. Sergel lived in Arizona for a short time and became well-known through the medium of radio. Returning to his native England in 1950, Mr. Sergel was active until the time of his death in preaching, community affairs, and with choral and retired groups.
