Philippine College President Named

Diocesan Press Service. November 8, 1963 [XV-8]

A former director of Church World Service in the Philippines has been named president of the Episcopal-related Trinity College in Quezon City, the Philippines.

He is Arthur Leroy Carson, Ph.D. whose appointment by the College's board of trustees became effective October 1. Dr. Carson will not take over the president's duties until January 1, 1964, however.

The 68-year-old native Pennsylvanian has directed Church World Service's operation in the Philippines since May, 1960. Prior to that, Dr. Carson for seven years was a staff member of the New York-based Commission on Ecumenical Mission and Relations of the United Presbyterian Church.

Trinity College, the former Capitol City College, was purchased by the Bishop of the Philippine Episcopal Church. It has been established as a joint operation of the Philippine Episcopal Church and the Philippine Independent Church. At present 1,800 students are enrolled.
