Network television's first course of lectures on the Old Testament will continue in February under the sponsorship of the National Council of Churches and in cooperation with NBC-TV's Public Affairs Program Department.

Featuring the Rev. Hagen Staack, noted author and Bible scholar, the coast-to-coast illustrated talks on major personalities of the Old Testament will appear each Sunday for three months beginning Feb. 2 on NBC-TV. Photographs, maps, and reproductions of paintings and statues will accompany the lectures.

A German-born professor of religion at Muhlenberg College, Allentown, Pa., Dr. Staack is a "fresh and exciting personality who brings to this series an extraordinary background of study and teaching abroad," Dr. S. F. Mack, executive director of the Council's Broadcasting and Film Commission, said.

Dr. Staack made his television debut last February in the first series of Old Testament lectures (on the Book of Genesis) sponsored jointly by the National Council and NBC. This three-month series was greeted by a flood of some 15,000 letters from people in all walks of life.

Titles and subjects of Dr. Staack's programs on Old Testament personalities are as follows: Feb. 2 --"The Learner" (Moses); Feb. 9 --"The Lawgiver" (Moses); Feb. 16 --"The Settler" (Joshua); Feb. 23 --"The Hero" (Samson); March 1 --"The Foreigner" (Ruth); March 8 --"The King-maker" (Samuel); March 15 --"The First King, a Failure" (Saul); March 29 --"The Apprentice King" (David); April 5 --"Israel's Greatest King" (David); April 12 -"The Builder King" (Solomon); April 19 --"The Reformer King" (Josiah); April 26 --"The Teacher" (Ezra). -30
