CATHEDRAL WORK TO CONTINUE

WASHINGTON, D. C. - The Chapter of Washington Cathedral has announced that, due to special gifts and legacies it has recently received, construction of the Cathedral will be continued with a $1, 050,000 building contract. First to be built will be the clerestory and vaulting overarching the three bays of the Nave adjoining the recently completed Gloria in Excelsis Tower. These bays are now finished only to the triforium level and are covered over with flat temporary roofing.

LOS ANGELES CARDINAL SPEAKS TO WOMEN

His Eminence James Francis Cardinal McIntyre, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Los Angeles, accepted the invitation of the Rt. Rev. Francis Eric Bloy, Bishop of Los Angeles, and addressed the annual meeting of the Episcopal Churchwomen of the Diocese Feb. 4.

FOLDER ON FUNERALS PUBLISHED

Because of the many questions coming in to the Maryland Council of Churches on funerals a new folder was prepared recently by its committees on-pastoral services and Christian social relations. "A Christian Looks at Death and the Funeral," is now in its second 10,000 printing, Mrs. Mildred Atkinson reports. Director of the Council's Christian Social Relations, she noted that the pamphlet covers the use of flowers, memorials, funeral fees, autopsies and cremation. Other sections cover the things to do before death occurs and after there is a death in the family.

BIBLE HAND-OUTS AT FAIR

A million-run World's Fair edition of the Gospel of St. John is now being printed by the New York Bible Society. The Rev. Y. R. Kindberg, general secretary, explained that the small Bible portions will be given away as souvenirs to visitors at the New York World's Fair.

This huge Scripture distribution project will be carried forth in connection with the Word of God exhibit sponsored by the New York Society in the Hall of Education. Various other religious groups exhibiting at the Fair will also assist in the project.
