New Volunteers for Mission Attend Outgoing Missionary Conference

Before going to their assignments, four newly appointed Volunteers for Mission, who will serve for two years, attended the Outgoing Missionary Conference at Seabury House, Greenwich, Conn., June 9 - 19. They are shown above talking with the Rev. Donald E. Bitsberger of National Council's Overseas Department. Thirty-two missionaries attended this year's conference, held each year in June to help missionaries prepare for their new assignments. From left to right, the volunteers are Miss Jean Tower of Short Hills, N. J., a graduate of William Smith College, Geneva, N. Y.; Miss Jean Sterns of Los Gatos, Calif., a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley; Miss Reta Ross of Park Ridge, Ill., a graduate of the National College of Education, and Miss Edith Kyle of Ansonia, Conn., a graduate of Smith College, Northhampton, Mass. Miss Tower, Miss Stearns and Miss Ross will be serving in Japan and Miss Kyle in Liberia.
