Pamphlets Support Mission Study

Diocesan Press Service. December 10, 1964 [XXVII-8]

This year's mission focus is on our Spanish-speaking neighbors. In conjunction with the study materials which the Executive Council has published and made available for the church-at-large, a number of secular pamphlets and booklets might be useful.

The Migration Division, Department of Labor, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico has available (free) various publications.

CHRISTMAS IN PUERTO RICO by Luisa Frias de Hampel. For children. Story of a typical Puerto Rican school Christmas party.

DELINQUENCY AND THE PUERTO RICANS by the Rev. Joseph P. Fitzpatrick, S. J., Associate Professor of Sociology, Fordham University. For adult study. Reprint of a speech discussing problems of uprooting, dealing mostly with results on children.

SCHOOL INTEGRATION: A PUERTO RICAN VIEW by Joseph Monserrat, Director of the Commonwealth Migration Division, Department of Labor. Taken from an address at Teachers College, Columbia University. Adult. Explains what integration does and does not mean to Puerto Ricans. Insights into experiences and conditioning, as well as the Puerto Rican view of the total issue.
