Clothing Fabric Parcels Being Received But More Needed

Diocesan Press Service. December 10, 1965 [XXXVIII-5]

Church World Service Centers throughout this country received 442,958 pounds of clothing during the month of October. Las year during the same month they received 263,077 pounds.

The overall figures, however, show a somewhat opposite trend. So far this year, CWS Centers have received and processed 3,397,128 pounds of clothing; whereas, last year by the end of October they had received 3,708,409.

High on the list of priorities for this clothing are refugees in Vietnam, and Cuban refugees coming into the United States.

Because of the difference in cultures and the ability of many Vietnamese women to sew, fabric parcels are particularly appreciated. Donors are asked to assemble the following items in each gift parcel: 4 yards of white cotton cloth; 4 yards of black cotton cloth; 5 yards of printed cotton cloth; sewing needles and suitable thread.

These should then be sent to the nearest Church World Service Center for processing and shipment overseas.
