Resolved, That this 68th General Convention ratify the division of the Diocese of Ecuador to create a new Diocese which, until the new Diocese adopts a name, shall be referred as the Diocese of the Litoral with the continuing Diocese to be known as the Diocese of Ecuador, the boundaries of the new Diocese to be the same as of the Missionary District of the Litoral which includes the civil provinces of Guayas, Los Rios, Manabi, and Galapagos of the Republic of Ecuador; and be it further

Resolved, That this 68th General Convention receive the following evidence supporting this resolution:

  1. Certified copy of the resolution, duly approved by the Diocese of Ecuador, committing the Diocese to its division and to the formation of a new Diocese;
  2. The consent of the Bishop of Ecuador;
  3. Certificate of the Secretary of the Convention of the Diocese of Ecuador, committing the Diocese to its division and to the formation of a new Diocese;
  4. Map of the existing and proposed continuing and new Diocese;
  5. Certificate of the Treasurer of the Diocese of Ecuador concerning the financial abilities of the continuing Diocese and of the new Diocese, together with supporting financial data;
  6. Certificate of the President of the Standing Committee concerning the fulfillment of the approved resolution and the authenticity of the presented documents;
  7. Certificate of the Chancellor of the Diocese of Ecuador that all aforesaid documents have been duly executed, are accurate, and are entitled to full faith and credit, and further that all the appropriate and pertinent provisions of the Constitution and Canons of the Diocese of Ecuador have been fully complied with in respect of this submission.

Whereas, the Diocese of Ecuador, in its Ordinary Diocesan Convention, assembled in Playas on March 1st, and 2nd, of 1985, adopted unanimously the resolution to divide the Diocese and form a new Diocese; therefore be it

Resolved, the House of Deputies concurring, That this 68th General Convention ratify the division of the Diocese of Ecuador to create a new Diocese which, until the new Diocese adopts a name, shall be referred as the Diocese of the Litoral with the continuing Diocese to be known as the Diocese of Ecuador, the boundaries of the new Diocese to be the same as of the Missionary District of the Litoral which includes the civil provinces of Guayas, Los Rios, Manabi, and Galapagos of the Republic of Ecuador; and be it further
