Whereas, the fifth Bishop of Western Michigan retired as of Dec. 1, 1984; and
Whereas, the Rt. Rev. Charles E. Bennison has served the Diocese of Western Michigan as diocesan Bishop for more than two decades and as a parish priest for over 25 years; and
Whereas, Bishop Bennison has given dedicated leadership during his episcopate in the House of Bishops and in Province V; and
Whereas, he has shown great pastoral and administrative leadership to the church in Western Michigan; therefore be it
Resolved, That the House of Bishops recognize his service to God and this Church and give thanks and praise to God for Charles and wish him the blessings of our Lord in his retirement.
