Resolved, That

  1. Canon III.2, Sec. 3(a) be amended as follows:

    Sec. 3(a). . . The said Commission, either as a whole, or by means of a Committee charged with responsibility, shall meet with the applicant to review the application and to prepare a recommendation an evaluation in respect of the applicant's qualifications to pursue a course of preparation for Holy Orders.
  2. Canon III.2, Sec. 3(b) be amended as follows:

    Sec. 3(b). The Commission on Ministry shall lay before the Bishop, with regard to each applicant, the aforesaid recommendation evaluation , together with reasons therefor.
  3. Canon III.2, Sec. 4(2) be amended as follows:

    Sec. 4(2). The recommendation evaluation of the Commission on Ministry, as provided in Section 3 above.
  4. Canon III.3, Sec. 2(d) be amended as follows:

    Sec. 2(d). He The Postulant shall have received the recommendation in writing of the Standing Committee and the evaluation of the Commission on Ministry as to his the Postulant's readiness to be received as a Candidate for Holy Orders.

Resolved, the House of Deputies concurring, That

Abstract:   The 68th General Convention amends Canons Title III.2 and 3 to replace gender specific language and to clarify the responsibility of diocesan Commissions on Ministry.
Notes:  

The numbers of the canons amended by this resolution were altered by Resolution 1985-A113. The amended canons were renumbered as follows: Canon Title III.2.3(a)(b) became Title III.5.3(a)(b); Canon Title III.2.4(2) became Title III.5.4(2); and Canon Title III.3.2(d) became Title III.6.2(d).
