Whereas, the Episcopal Church lost a very devout, capable and untiring worker in the death of K. Wade Bennett of the Diocese of Dallas in November, 1984; and

Whereas, Wade Bennett served as a Deputy from the Diocese of Newark and Dallas, [and] was a member and consultant to the Standing Commission on the Structure of the Church, bringing to that Commission his knowledge and experience in corporate organizations; and

Whereas, he was a former Trustee of the Church Divinity School of the Pacific; and

Whereas, he made a major contribution to the success of Venture-in-Mission as National Diocesan Chairman; and

Whereas, he was also a leader at the Parochial and Diocesan levels, and chaired the Committee to Nominate the Bishop Coadjutor in the recent election in the Diocese of Dallas; and

Whereas, at the time of his untimely death he was a valuable member of the Joint Nominating Committee for the Election of the Presiding Bishop; therefore be it

Resolved, the House of Bishops concurring, That this 68th General Convention give thanks for the life and service of K. Wade Bennett and express deep sorrow at his death; and be it further

Resolved, That this resolution be included in the Journal and a copy sent to the family of K. Wade Bennett.
