Original Text of Resolution:

Whereas, Louis Farrell, former General Convention Deputy and long-term Chancellor of the Diocese of Tennessee, made a lasting contribution to The Episcopal Church at diocesan, provincial and national levels; and

Whereas, he was responsible for rewriting the diocesan canons and wrote a vestry manual which he entitled "So You're on the Vestry"; and

Whereas, in 1982, with his Bishop, he organized the first Provincial Chancellors Conference, which has continued annually in the Fourth Province and similar conferences have been held in other Provinces and by Coalition XIV; and

Whereas, recognizing the need for exchange of information relating to both canonical and secular law, he raised funds and organized the Episcopal Chancellors Network, which is a computerized library of constitutions, canons, court decisions, chancellors' opinions and related matters accessible through the Westlaw system; and

Whereas, the entire Church has suffered a great loss in the death on May 24, 1988 of Louis Farrell of Tennessee; therefore be it

Resolved, the House of Deputies concurring, That the General Convention give thanks for the life and service to the Church of Louis Farrell.
