Resolved, That the 70th General Convention of the Episcopal Church express its vigorous opposition to the U.S. use of foreign countries, especially the Latin American and Caribbean countries as dumping places for waste, prohibited pesticide and other chemical residue that pollute the environment of these countries and endanger the lives of their inhabitants; and be it further

Resolved, That a copy of this Resolution be sent by the Secretary of the General Convention to the President, the Secretary of State, the Secretary of the Interior, and appropriate members of Congress.

Resolved, the House of Bishops concurring, That the 70th General Convention of the Episcopal Church express its vigorous opposition to the U.S. use of the Latin American and Caribbean countries as dumping places for waste, prohibited pesticide and other chemical residue that completely pollute the environment of these countries and endanger the lives of their inhabitants; and be it further

Resolved, That a copy of this Resolution be sent by the Secretary of the General Convention to the appropriate authorities of the U.S. Government and private agencies having responsibilities in such matters.

Proposed Committee Amendment:

In the first Resolved, after the words "opposition to the U.S. use of," add the words "foreign countries, especially," and after the words "Caribbean countries," insert a comma, and strike the word "completely."

In the second Resolved after the words "General Convention to the," strike the words "appropriate authorities of the U.S. Government and private agencies having responsibilities in such matters" and add the words "President, the Secretary of State, the Secretary of the Interior, and appropriate members of Congress."
