Resolved, That the 72nd General Convention of the Episcopal Church add a paragraph to the Constitution, Article VIII, as follows:

A bishop may permit a minister ordained in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America or its predecessor bodies who has made the promise of conformity required by that Church in place of the foregoing declaration to officiate on a temporary basis as an ordained minister of this church ; and be it further

Resolved, That this resolution shall take effect on January 1, 2001, after adoption on second reading at the 73rd General Convention; and be it further

Resolved, That this resolution be sent to the Secretary of the Convention of every Diocese, to be made known to the Diocesan Convention at its next meeting.

Resolved, the House of Deputies concurring, That this 72nd General Convention of the Episcopal Church add a paragraph to the Constitution, Article VIII, as follows:

A bishop may permit a minister ordained in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America who has made the promise of conformity required by that Church in place of the foregoing declaration to officiate on a temporary basis as a minister of this church.

Proposed Committee Amendment:

In lines 3-5, delete all text after "America" and add "or its predecessor bodies who has made the promise of conformity required by that Church in place of the foregoing declaration to officiate on a temporary basis as an ordained minister of this church; and be it further

Resolved, that this resolution shall take effect on January 1, 2001, after adoption on second reading at the 73rd General Convention."
