The House of Bishops Committee on Social and Urban Affairs presented its Report #4 on Resolution A023 (Encourage Prison Ministry Throughout The Episcopal Church) and moved to refer to the Standing Commission on Anglican and International Peace with Justice Concerns.

Original Text of Resolution

(A023)

Resolved, the House of Deputies concurring, That the 77th General Convention directs the Suffragan Bishop for Federal Ministries to include in his or her responsibilities the encouragement and development of prison chaplaincies on a national level in the various nations of The Episcopal Church; and be it further

Resolved, That the program for development of such ministries include training for chaplains and for diocesan leaders as advocates for the human rights of prisoners in the several nations of The Episcopal Church; and be it further

Resolved, That the Suffragan Bishop for Federal Ministries explore ways in which that office can assist in national level chaplaincies in the several nations of The Episcopal Church; and be it further

Resolved, That a sum of $60,000 for the 2013–2015 triennium be allocated for this purpose.
