Resolved, the House of Bishops concurring,

That the 80th General Convention denounces the work of Crisis Pregnancy Centers, also known as Pregnancy Resource Centers; and be it further  

Resolved, That the 80th General Convention apologizes for the Church’s previous support of Crisis Pregnancy Centers as detailed in Resolution 1994-D105.

The House of Bishops Committee on Social Justice and United States Policy presented its Report #30 on HD Message #41 on Resolution D076 (Addressing the Ongoing Harm of Crisis Pregnancy Centers) and moved concurrence.

The Rt. Rev. Michael Smith, Assistant Bishop of Dallas, moved to take up this resolution at a later time certain to allow for a substitute resolution to be filed.

Proposed Substitute:

Resolved, the House of Bishops concurring, That the 80th General Convention denounces the work of Crisis Pregnancy Centers, also known as Pregnancy Resource Centers; and be it further

Resolved, That the 80th General Convention apologizes for the Church’s previous support of Crisis Pregnancy Centers as detailed in Resolution 1994-D105.

That the 80th General Convention commends the work and mission of pregnancy care centers which stress unconditional love and acceptance, for women and their unborn children (1994-D105), and their work to support women who choose to carry their unborn children to term; and be it further

Resolved, That we oppose and denounce any efforts on the part of pregnancy care centers to mislead pregnant women about the safety of reproductive health care.

Deputy Blaess of Tennessee moved to remove Resolution D076 from the Consent Calendar. Motion defeated due to failure to meet the requirements established by Special Rules of Order X002.
