Resolved, That the 74th General Convention, through the Office of Government Relations, urge the United States government to keep America's "Promise to Africa" by fully funding the President's proposed five-year, $15 billion budget request for HIV/AIDS relief for Africa and the Caribbean without cuts to current life-saving programs; and be it further

Resolved, That the 74th General Convention commend the President for the promise of significant new funding to combat the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa and now calls on the Administration to use the full influence of the Executive Office in order to press Congress to keep the "Promise to Africa"; and be it further

Resolved, That the Church encourage the government to continue to find new ways by which America can combat this deadly disease and promote human security, thereby waging global reconciliation; and be it further

Resolved, That the Church call on the United States government to honor and support trade policies that promote access to essential AIDS medicines for poor countries, and to make sustained commitment for a fair-share U.S. contribution to the "Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria," an international public-private partnership world health campaign modeled on the world health campaigns which led to the successful eradication of polio and smallpox; and be it further

Resolved, That all Episcopalians take immediate action to contact their elected representatives, urging them to support funding for the "Promise to Africa" and the "Global Fund"; and be it further

Resolved, That all dioceses and communities of faith in The Episcopal Church be urged to examine and embrace ways by which they can join in the worldwide fight against HIV/AIDS.
