Resolved, That the Executive Council create an advisory committee to be known as the Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation Committee (JPIC), with subcommittees for Anti-Racism, Economic Justice, Environmental Stewardship and Jubilee Ministries; and be it further

Resolved, That the objective of the JPIC shall be to facilitate communication and collaboration between the Executive Council and ministries throughout the Episcopal Church and Church Center units which address issues of peace, social and economic justice and the environment; and be it further

Resolved, That the JPIC shall regularly report to the Executive Council through its Standing Committee on Program, on the trends, needs and directions regarding the Church's mission for justice, peace and the integrity of creation, and report to the General Convention through the Blue Book Report of the Executive Council; and be it further

Resolved, That the specific responsibilities of the JPIC shall be as follows:

  1. To serve as representatives of the grassroots of the Episcopal church for the purpose of
    1. enabling strategies for justice to be achieved through church structures at all levels and
    2. advising the Executive Council and the staff of the Peace and Justice Cluster on current and emerging issues and concerns of church members regarding ministries for social, economic and environmental justice and stewardship.
  2. To promote partnerships and collaboration of efforts at the local, diocesan, provincial and national church levels.
  3. To coordinate and promote collaboration of efforts between and among EPIC subcommittees.
  4. To recommend to the Executive Council program priorities and strategies, together with budgetary implications, to be approved by the executive Council in consultation with the Presiding Bishop's staff; and be it further

Resolved, That the JPIC shall consist of a minimum of twelve members appointed by the Presiding Bishop, with a minimum of three members representing each of the areas of Anti-Racism, Economic Justice, Environmental Stewardship and Jubilee Ministries; and be it further

Resolved, That each of the four subcommittees of the JPIC, established for the areas outlined above, shall consist of the three JPIC members representing the area of concentration of the subcommittee, plus a minimum of three additional co-opted members appointed by the Presiding Bishop; and be it further

Resolved, That for the year 1995 only, The Economic Justice Implementation Committee shall be the JPIC Subcommittee on Economic Justice; and be it further

Resolved, That the subcommittees shall report to the JPIC through the JPIC members of each subcommittee; and be it further

Resolved, That the Presiding Bishop shall appoint a member of the Executive Council to serve as an additional member of the JPIC and act as liaison between the JPIC and the Executive Council; and be it further

Resolved, That the Presiding Bishop may, from time to time, appoint members-at-large to the JPIC in order to assure effective linkages to other appropriate bodies and networks of the Episcopal Church; and be it further

Resolved, That logistical and administrative support for the JPIC and its sub-committees, will be provided by the Presiding Bishop's staff.
