Resolved, That the Executive Council meeting in Tampa, Florida, on February 9-12, 2004, reaffirms the historic commitment of the Episcopal Church to the protection of refugees and asylum seekers; and be it further

Resolved, That the Executive Council reaffirms General Convention Resolution 1997-C017 supporting the rights of women fleeing the practice of female genital mutilation to be granted refugee status and asylum; and be it further

Resolved, That the Executive Council reaffirms General Convention Resolution 1997-C018, charging Episcopal Migration Ministries with developing and implementing an advocacy agenda to the United State Government of a generous program of refugee admission for persecuted persons; and be it further

Resolved, That the Executive Council recognizes the increased instances of women fleeing their countries of origin because of cultural practices that deny their full humanity; and be it further

Resolved, That the Episcopal Church urge the United States Government to implement policies and practices that extend the protection of asylum to such vulnerable persons.
