Whereas, The Episcopal Church reaffirms its commitment to ecumenical participation and leadership; and

Whereas, The Episcopal Church is committed to primary emphasis on diocesan and local ecumenism; and

Whereas, The Lund Principle calls for consultation, planning, and communication among the Churches working on a collaborative model; and

Whereas, The Churches are called to visible unity in one faith and one eucharistic fellowship and the search for such visible unity should be a function of a National Council; and

Whereas, There have been many changes in the ecumenical movement since the National Council of Churches was established; and

Whereas, The Episcopal Church is committed to dialogue and working with the Roman Catholic Church and other Churches not in the National Council, it therefore records its commitment to work for a more fully ecumenical Conference of Churches; therefore be it

Resolved, That representatives of the Episcopal Church on National Council boards and committees participate with these goals and objectives in view; and be it further

Resolved, That the Episcopal Church and the National Council together reexamine National Council memberships and functions, through a dialogue between representatives of the National Council and representatives of the Episcopal Church.
