[Resolved, That the Executive Council approve the following resolution for presentation to the 75th General Convention of the Episcopal Church:]

A____ Study the Impact of Slavery

Resolved, The House of _________ concurring, that the 75th General Convention of the Episcopal Church direct the Committee on Anti-Racism to collect during the next triennium detailed information on the following subjects:

(a) the complicity of the Episcopal Church in the institution of slavery in the United States and in the subsequent history of segregation and discrimination;

(b) the economic benefits the Episcopal Church derived from the institution of slavery;

(c) how the Church can, as matter of justice, share those benefits with African American Episcopalians; and to report to General Convention 2009 on these efforts; and be it further

Resolved, That every diocese be encouraged to undertake its own study of the foregoing subjects as applicable within its geographic area and report to the Committee on Anti-Racism by April 1, 2009, on its efforts in this regard.
